It’s Waste Reduction Week

The Recycling Council of British Columbia (RCBC) is celebrating their annual event – “Waste Reduction Week”. While the RCBC is focused on British Columbia, the actual event is a nation wide initiative providing information, programs and special incentives for local communities. Some of the highlights include:

  1. Ease my load –
This campaign is designed to help get the word out by helping Atlas, the campaign mascot, ease his incredible burden of holding up the entire planet. The only way to help Atlas is to reduce the amount of waste we all produce. Atlas encourages you to cut out his picture and include it with a picture of you helping to reduce your own waste.
  2. Recycle my cell –
Need to get rid of that old cell phone, cell phone accessories or batteries? This campaign not only help dispose of these potentially hazardous items safely – but it is also designed to help kids and local schools.
Here at DL’s Recycling Center we can help you reduce your footprint on the planet. Here is a sample of what you can bring to us for proper disposal and recycling:
• Yard Waste ~ brush, leaves and grass
• Small Stumps and Land Clearing
• Wood Waste
• Fluorescent Tubes
• Asphalt Shingles and Cedar Shingles
• Drywall
• Concrete, Brick or Asphalt Roadway
• Dirt
• Cardboard
• Clean Waste Oil and Oil Filters
• Propane Tanks
• Tires
Have a great week and good luck with your waste reduction efforts.
